We started racing Pro Street in 1995. The rules then were alot closer to what NPS is today.

This was my feeble attempt at being helpful over on the other board:

"I don't recall, but remember before these cars were "Nostalgia" and were the big dogs in Pro Street.

I was there watching when Danny Scott won in Memphis in 1994; that was a couple years after the first Hot Rod magazine sponsored Memphis shoot out in 1992 (I believe)."

Checking my notes I show that I partipated in NMCA events in 1999 and then NSCA events in 2000.

So - the question then becomes: was NPS started at the beginning of the association, in 2000, or later on?

Summary of the history of the Tony Depillo organizations:

1999 and prior - NMCA
2000 - NSCA
2001 - NMCA
2002 - NMCA/NSCA "Super Series"
2003 - NMCA
2004 - NSCA
2005 - NSCA
2006 - NSCA
2007 - NSCA
2008 - RIP

Tony was with NSCA in 1998. Frank was running it and Tony was involved. But didn't own it yet.

Do you mean NMCA?

My race calendar shows that I attended a Norwalk NMCA event in May of 1998.

I will agree that Tony was in on the deal (not necessarily as owner) with Frank and (maybe) Jim Sellers in that timeframe; my point was that I didn't think the NSCA naming came into being until 1999, and also trying to make a distinction between Tony's organization vs the Hot Rod/Charlie Harmon NMCA.

Looks like I ran the Norwalk and Union Grove NMCA events in 1997, too...

That's as far back as my Franklin planner goes. Beyond that, I'd have to start looking at time slips in the data book...

NSCA Started in 1998. We ran at Virginia motorsports park. It was their 3rd race as a sanctioning body. We then ran the rest of the season with them at Mid michigan, Bowling Green and the finals were at Columbus. They still had the little tech trailer that the M was peeled off of and an S stuck in it's place.

We were at the 1997 NMCA race at Norwalk. That's where the wheelie bars snapped off and I stood the car up about 6ft. It was 1st round elims against Animal Jim driving Bob Geratugas (sp) Lincoln Mark 8

I'll meet you halfway...

I made a mistake, and see that there are a mixture of NSCA and NMCA meets on my calendar, but I don't see any NSCA on my 1998 calendar.

I'm sure I would have run with Tony's organization if that was the first year...

:?

Are you sure it wasn't 1999?

Don't you keep your old timeslips? Can't you go back and check your records?

I have some timeslips. I also have a t-shirt that has my car and 1998 NSCA finals printed below. And I have the program from the awards banquet that was in Columbus a few weeks after the race.
