Nice Web site! and a fast car to go with it.My question is that i have done 22 passes now. And have tried changing timing, jets, and still runs the same mph 142-144, the car even runs same mph hot day to mild night. Is this a sign of a ignition problem. I was thinking of running 16 volts to my holley pro strip annilator. car specs are 3400 lbs with pro 1 355cc. headed 555bbc with 900 plus hp. The car runs clean but just cant get the car to go 150 mph which is what i thought it would run easly. Any ideas

Okay here is the time sheet 60ft-1.43,330ft-3.95,660ft6.07,mph115.66,1000ft7.91,ET-9.47@143.83mph.I now the 60ft times are not flash, but the car is a factory four link with 10.5x28 MT slicks,at this stage iam getting beter 60ft without trans brake, next time out i will try the stiff side wall and trans brake and maybe get in the 1.3 60ft zone.I would have thought that the 60 ft times would have not hurt the mph,as wheel spin is only in the first 30ft on a good run. What would a typical 900hp 555 run in a 3400lbs car?

according to textbook physics (no slip or friction), you'd run 9 flat.

Real life is probably closer to 9.3-9.5

I'd say yer right on the money

My friend runs a 805 hp n/a 540 in his street driven 68 camaro wich weighs around 3400 to 3500 and he ran a best of 9.85.......He threw 300 worth of bottle at it and went 9.18 @ 154 with very nasty wheel spin(about 100 feet out).....anyways I would say your right where you should be....

When these shops advertise the hp readings i have always thought that they were over stated.I have always used the moroso and chrysler slide rules for hp comparison.Which i worked out at 800 HP. My old 454 run 9.8@137 in the same car which weighed 3550 lbs and only crossing the line at 7300"still had more in it".With the old motor changing timing would affected mph and would go 3 mph faster at night compared to during the day. This engine will not respond too any tuning. THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT

The moroso slide rule is available in thier catalogue. As for the chysler it is a chart and you join the weight and mph together to get hp reading.I think i got it out of their power manual book.I have also seen it in some other smaller books that they have printed. Can go and ask my MOPAR obsess mate if he can find it.

I tried the weight and mph figure but it really wasn't anywhere close to my dyno sheets, but it is a good starting point for anyone....

If you are gonna get an ignition system, spend the extra dollars and get a MSD Digital 7 Programmable. It will allow you plot you timing curve and help with the tire spin issue. It is also about 30% stronger in spark energy than the old 7-al's.

Does the digital-7 allow you yo launch at a desired timing and then advance it as you need it??????? That would be realy usefull......
