Is the moderator over at NSCA forums a brownie scout leading, politically correct, Oprah watching, wear clean shorts, look both ways before you cross the street, save the whales, testosterone hating brat or something?

They deleted our cry baby post!!!!

obviously they've never watched wrestling or boxing or anything else in their life where people have some fight egging eachother on.

Can you repost those hear. Sean Monty's post. but nothing else. Know I've talked to Kevin personally at Grand Bend on a couple of times, never met Monty yet, but will have a tissue and cold one for him after the race, but isn't all this just some good ribbing between friends. Plus both Kevin and Monty have been like this for quite some time from what I've seen on the old NMCA forum anyway. If the only "swear words" that come across the wire is @ss from time to time, than so be it. I guess that you as the moderator of this forum will be a little more relaxed. John

I noticed that also Chris. This is the 4th post they deleted of mine. Not sure why.. People E-mail me all the time and say that this kind of stuff keeps the message board alive. Not sure whats going on.. Oh well, maybe this is the NHRA where people earn their living off of rather than the NSCA where people kick back and have fun.. People are way too serious!!!!

Ya know, it's a funny thing about having to moderate. I enjoy some fun up to a point and usually only "move" posts, as most users are horrified at the thought of losing that all important post count. I'm sure Chris has at least one or two hidden forums on here that somethings will get moved to when this place expands ( you wouldn't believe how few Nova boards are around ), so I can see BBnova racing getting large quickly. I don't side with anyone on how they determine what is and what isn't proper content for a forum, but some have had it with open verbal abuse and threats, or the first sign of nudity and outright poor taste. I've never seen that out of either of any of your posts. When I first started helping Matt, we had a choice of either limiting what was said or just closing the board for good. Matt's had many boards over the years and has always been a huge source in Philly here. If you look at what the NSCA is trying to do I can see their point, as they want to bring more "outside members" to the forums and the thought of getting tangled up in some trash talk probably gets the hair up on their back when they go back and ask the sponsors for more money. But the board shouldn't be the deciding factor in what all of you plan to talk to each other about, and implications to the sponsors and members come first when money counts. We decided to clean up our forums when we became the sponsor of the quick 8's at our track, and it has helped us alot, you can go there and not get ripped apart like so many other boards allow. Most of you go to another forum here and there and can see what I mean by getting ripped. It doesn't take long to have things get out of hand, but most of the NSCA members know both of you and should take it into consideration. Just some more of my ¢.02.

nothing wrong with some friendly banter.........without humour the day gets very boring.I enjoy Monty and Kevins ramblings, just like Paul Webster and me over on my own and others boards.Maybe if you put on the bottom of the posts "it's only banter"?

Chris, your doing a great job, your update looks great. I was gonna post this on your poll question but I read this post and thought I'd throw in my .02. You have to find the right balance of what to allow and what not to.

4mula does a great job with his site. I've been on there alot and can't get enough of the Video clips this time of year. You guys must put some serious time into these forums. Keep it up.

I"m near Chicago and I'm a little jealous of GDR.com because it such a cool East Coast site. Chitownracing.com sucks compared to your site. It's a perfect example of what not to let a forum become. I've showed friends some video clips from that site and people couldn't believe it was supposed to be a racing site. I'm no tree hugging conservative whiner but they have some really crude things on their forum. Anyone know of any Midwest based racing forums other than PRO and NSCA?

thanks man.

I was in chicago last weekend. my GF took me for a little vacation. had a great time. my GF and I found it weird that like every other woman and every 1/5 guys had a fur coat on! hahha. they must sell like crazy. we were downtown on michigan ave and stayed at hotel 71.

I am all about keeping a site clean and professional if that's your thing. and I think we all are doing that here. What I disagree with is this. If you dont want swearing, then you put a bad word filter on(built in to PHPBB), or you edit and change posts how you.

By just plain deleting posts you don't like or agree with, well that's akin to book burning IMHO. I read over our posts here. Monty and Kevin have a few digs in. nothing is anywhere above a G rated movie though. Some friendly ribbing is all. /shrug.

and ya. GDR rocks. very clean and sexy site. I took a lot of the flavor and borrowed it here

Again I agree 100% Chris. I'm not really sure what posts got deleted by NSCA because I've read so many Kevin vs Monty posts that I cant keep track any more
Also, does this board consider TCI a swear word? I noticed it didn't show up in one of my posts? I did order a Hurst shifter not TCI by the way.

I had added a smiley that made a smiley face when it saw the letters "TC" for thread close. I changed it to a : in front of the TC just now. thanks=)

Also, take a look around the Chitownracing site if you've never been. I know it's supposed to be street racing site but it's almost embarrassingly bad.

Hope you had fun in our hometown. My wife has a really nice Silver
Fox Fur coat that her parents bought for her. She probably has only worn it twice in ten years. We don't spend much time mingling with the high society types. I might be willing to trade it for a really nice powerglide if anyones interested. My wife might not notice it was gone for a few months.

we had a blast. I used to live in Schaumburg for a while. I love Chitown.

Now Chitownracing.com, hrmmm. Well, i dont wanna cut em up too bad. but it's just a forum. would it be that hard to add some other sections? The pics could use some work. I will say one thing though.....their user base and posts seem to be really good

Where abouts in Schaumburg? I grew up in Arlington Heights and I used to manage a Firestone Store at Barrington & Bode Rd. We moved up north near Gurnee about five years ago. Now I'm lucky enough to work 1.5 miles from home. I don't miss all the traffic one bit.

You being a computer guy, are probably looking at the layout and graphics and such. I'm talking more about content, alot of trash talking and slamming people they probably don't even know.

Ya, i see what you mean by that stuff. That's where I'd create moderated and unmoderated forums. but that's just me
