'87 Chevy "R" truck (same as an '86 C/K):

Anybody know how to do that? I will be reusing my brake controller, which has seen a lot of use in newer (GMT800 and GMT900) style pickups, but have never done one this "vintage".

Need to wire for a 7 pin round ("Airstream") style receptacle.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Red=power
White=ground
Blue=to trailer
Black=switch

Ok - so to clarify:

Blue - trailer brakes?

Black - brake light switch?

It's also become more clear to me that I'll have to pick up the controller wiring under the dash, but I could grab the tail/brake/turn circuits under the back of the truck (just like if I was doing a four pin flat connector).

Blue is for the trailer. It goes to position 2 in the connector.

Hook the Black wire to the wire coming off the switch that is hot when the brake lights are on.

Ok, got it -



Ok, and this one goes in position 4 in the connector?

This is starting to make sense.... (I think)

They make a T connector that goes inline with the harness in the back its plug and play for the lights look on page 90 of your LMC catalog

Ok - we have a plan!

I picked up the receptacle and the bracket here locally; the T connector is on order and already shipped.

I'll let you know how this turns out once the parts arrive!
