My little N/A SBC spent the day on the dyno 1.83 hp/ci isnt too shabby. It ended up making just shy of 744hp and 587 lbft. We played with all kinds of stuff: ignition timing, jetting, valve lash, cam timing. Funny part is ya want to know what picked up the most power and tq? 14lbft and over 12hp from a simple piece of duct tape  We kept tightening the screw on my vacuum relief for the vacuum pump and finally just decided to tape the inlet shut. We got done with the pull and the guy running the dyno was like    WTF? Looking at the sheets it added about 8" of vacuum which is where the power came from.

Here is the sheet

Sorry to dissapoint Bob but this is an all motor deal. The wife won't have anything to do with nitrous. Given that she lets me pretty much do whatever else I want I think I will keep her happy :D

Until you get to the point where valve springs are consumables & only last one MAYBE 2 weekends, & it takes 4 or 5 $1500 converters to figure out what it takes to get it to get it up into the power, then Nitrous looks like a REAL good solution. LOL.

I understand, Im just giving you noise.

are you kidding, of course he WANTS to run that fast, but he also wants to win the lotto, loose 20 Lbs, get a major sponsor that will not only pay the entire bill, but pay him to show up & race.

But...................... the check book says that he will likely not actually be running that fast.............. I think most of us are in that boat. LOL.

Actually I was pretty close to running 8.70s or so. I was seriously considering sticking an F2 procharger on this motor. But MMM changed the class I was going to run in to an 8 car field and dropped the payout to the same as the class I won the championship in. Throw in the fact that I will have another mouth to feed come July :D and I just decided to stick with what works. I can't complain this year I actually made money racing 8)

Well I am not saying I got rich by any means my 1040 showed a $14.00 profit from a buisness  But hell its better than loosing money any day! Between sponsor money and the really really good year I had I was able to cover all the fuel maintenance and entry fees for the season. Winning 2 races splitting the $ from the finals at 4 races and coming in runner up at 2 other races plus a bunch of money finishes bracket racing really added up. :D

No Bob I meant I was pretty close to building a motor that would get me into the 8.70s (or better) range. I decided to just stick with what I got. We found about 20hp or so on the dyno I am expecting some high 9.50s in decent air this season @ 3180lbs
