Which of the following techniques are prefered to locate the engine from scratch in a chassis car.

1. Crank centerline distance from the ground (and whats the magic number)

2. Crank centerline distance from the bottom on the frame rail (and what the magic number)

I understand that they both represent the same final out come, but which is the easiest to perform without a chassis jig.

Also what is the determining factors as to wether the engine sits level or not between the frame rails. I do understand that Im not looking for a superstock set up, however, I also understand that its reletive to the pinion angle as well.

So, how do I calculate how I want my engine to be sitting between the frame rails.

Thank guys and gals
