So you run the quarter in 10.0 with a very shallow stage but you struggle at the tree.

You figure if you deep stage, you will cut a better light but you ET will suffer.

so here is the question

Is the advantage in RT bigger, the same or less than the loss in ET?

so if you RT .100 shallow and pick up .050 going deep, what will your ET be?

Depends on rollout red... I shallow stage during qualifing and a little deeper during elims.. If I shallow stage the car the best I can must is .450 on a pro tree.. If I give it that extra little bump, I can red light... I'mnot really sure what the time difference between the two would be.. But like I said rollout would be a factor.. Hope this helps...

What I am trying to find it is, I run an index class (EFI and Americna Super Car). If I shallow stage, I have a good chance of qualifying #1.

When elims come around, am I hurting myself or helping myself by taking the extra bump to get the better light?

So in my prior example, if I pick up .050 at the tree and lose .050 in ET, is my overall time the same and would I have given myself a better or worse chance of winning.

Buy a Viper and just be a poser like me and never race. If you do that you will never worry about et's or going red. JK I plan of running AM at least three times this year with my Camaro. I was thinking FAST, but after I was told to say my 73 was a 72 due to the BBC I decided I didn't have enough money to race that class. Pat

I agree with Kevin. Personally, I prefer to shallow stage. The reaction
time may not be superb, but if you deep stage and red light,
you go home. And that just sucks.

I know... I remember NSCA Milan race all too well.. Final against Golobo.. .396 red...

You guys cars much quicker than mine so I don't think it is really an issue for me.

If I remember right, at NT I was shallow and cutting .1teens and went deep and cut like .070 (on a .500 tree).

I know I need greater help than that.

I am a four year bracket racer and can cut .0teens almost at will on the full tree but the pro tree has me stumped.

my nova has a .400 pro tree trans brake and most of the racing ive done with it has been bracket racing on a .500 full tree i also prefer to stage shallow i have 26.5" tall front tires to increase roll out and i have to stare at the last bulb and not pay any attention to the first 2 essentailly making it like a 500 pro tree and keep my rt's in the .540 range Also i had a 96 impala ss with very big front tires likee 255 55 17's shallow stage was .240 leaving just when the second yellow went out deep staged i left on a very early 3rd yellow and was in the 5 teens but red lit in the 3rd round .498 i was probably a little over anxious cause my 15.88 was getting a 4+ second head start sucks too i ran 15.883 .005 away from a perfect run If i had too guess kevins redlight @ milan was due to inconsitant roll out between lanes but if you have a little room on the index like car can run 9.90's it wont hurt to deep stage you have to be carefull with the roll out your car is probably a little nose hevy if you can get the front to lift up out of the lights you can cut better lights shallow staged ........... just some ramblings
