Well Bill I don't think I am old enough either to remember this...LOL But if I was to guess I would think it might be Rockingham Raceway in North Carolina... It's called the Hooters Drag race... But we are on the other side of the states from where Kevin gave his hint to...

You know, I am an old guy too.... of course, that means my memory is shot so I may not remember what race you are talking about...

Lets see... is there a story from the race that I am thinking about... It is a west coast event, more famous than almost any other race in the country ... at least in the days of 8 national events during the year...

Oh yes, I remember now... I started a funny car, and started to run out to get ready for the burn out and was not looking where I was running... and center punched Dick Landy at full gate who was up inspecting the starting line. WOW... was that embarrassing or what? Oh well, I was young... and I didnt work for him so...

Ooppsss.... Bill did you say that we all get to guess or is this just for Kevin?

RITA KEVIN HAD IT RIGHT SO FAR IS WAS A WEST COAST RACE AND LIKE BUTCH SAID IT WAS EAST VS WEST IN SOME OF THE MOST AWSOME RACING AROUND.

OK Bill, Here goes. Way back when when Bill was say in his 40's :lol: sorry Bill had to... anyway way back when...... pre funny car era... in March these relics called front end dragsters used to get to get together at Bakers Filed in Cali I think it was, and have at it... Typically it was a 64 car field... Different makes would show up to fight it out and show off.... Did I miss anything Bill?????

BUTCH WAS AROUND THESE GUYS ALSO BLOW UP MOTORS FOR THEM.
NO KIDDING LOL
MARCH MADNESS IS THE SMOKLERS TOP FUEL MEET IN BAKERSFIELD CA. WHEN IS THE LAST TIME ANYONE OF YA SEEN A 64 CAR TOP FUEL DRAG RACE.
EAST VS WEST THE BADDEST OF BAD CAME AND SOMETIMES WON AND SOMETIMES LOST. THIS MEET ALMOST OVER SHADOWED POMOMA, WINTER NATIONALS RACE. BACK THEN TOP FUEL WASNT CORP AMERICA OWNING THE CARS IS WAS PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND ME DOING THE RACING.
THERE WERE ABOUT 6-7 GUYS FROM COLORADO WHO WOULD GO TO POMONA AND THEN HIT THE BAKERSFIELD MEET.
ALSO A TON OF FUNNY CARS WERE AT HAND TO RUN THIS RACE AND THIS IS WHERE MR SHRIER PLAYED.
YOU RIGHT KEVIN AND I OWE YA ON THIS BUT POOR ME WITH MY RIGHT ARM IN A SLING AT BELLE ROSE FROM SHOULDER SURGERY AND I GOTTA DO WHAT????
THE LADIES WILL FEEL SORRY FOR ME LOL. I CAN FEEL MY PAIN NOW.

RIGHT??? CANT UPSET BUDDMAN WITH PLAYING GAMES ON THE STARTING LINE, HE GETS KINDA INTENSE WHEN HE GETS ON THE MIC LOL.
YES RITA I CAN STILL ROCK EVEN WITH A BUM RIGHT ARM. MAYBE JUST A TAD SLOWER THEN USUAL THOUGH.

SURGERY IS SCHEDULED FOR THE 17TH OF THIS MONTH. IT'S BEEN A YEAR LONG PROCESS TO GET ME FIXED BUT I CAN DO THE WAIT, RIGHT NOW THE VA IS BUSY WITH OUR MEN AND WOMEN FIGHTING IN IRAQ GETTING THEM FIXED UP SO THEY CAN RETURN TO THEIR FAMILIES.
THESE KIDS ARE TOUGH AS HECK.
