Guys -

I'm hoping this is not premature but it looks like "the fam" is moving back to the country -

We have had our house in the city (Troy) on the market through the summer, even got an offer in July (but the bidder backed out).

So, last Wednesday we got another offer that looks like it is going to stick this time. As a result, we've put an offer in on a house on Clarkston Rd, pretty close to the "venue formerly known as Pine Knob". Bigger house, acreage, pool, remodeled barn/guest house with four car garage, the usual amenities in terms of a country estate. Definitely a move up, so I'm happy about that (although a lot more maintenence).

In summary - if all goes according to plan - we should be all moved in my mid -October and ready to hit the ground running before the snow flies.

All I have to do now is pay for it....

:?

congrats Keith.

Kim and I are attempting the same in the spring. We'll be putting the house up and move to either Birmingham, Troy, Bloomfield Hills, or most likely Rochester Hills.

Clarkston is nice. I'm jealous!

Hope all goes well Keith. Congrats and good job in this market.

Not to try and steal your post but I saved $13,000 this week from the sale of my old house.

Thank you, no problem. It is a great time to be "buying up".

The trick this time, as in the past, was selling our current home. A family from Pennsylvania bought it; moving here because of work (He is a chef, and will be working at one of the restuarants on 16 mile/Big Beaver).

Move update:

We were scheduled to close on both houses last Friday, but due to some problems with our buyer's mortgage company our closing was delayed until early this week.

Since we were already "wide-open-throttle" with moving out (and all our stuff was already in the moving van) my wife was able to schmooze "early possession" with our sellers*. So - all our worldly goods are now located at the new place in Clarkston, sans the clothes I have on and a few toiletries. We are going to use the enclosed car trailer to move those few remaining items.

Summary - the good news is the physical move is pretty much done, just have to finish up the paperwork (hopefully today/tomorrow/Wednesday).

K

*some other time I'll have to tell about my wife's abilities of persuasion. ;)

I suppose it's a bit ironic, but none of the pictures of the main house itself and of the front and back yard made the cut, so I just have these of the barn/back garage.

I was working out there yesterday getting organized a bit.

This portion of the barn has living quarters/finished as a guest house; you can see the driveway heading back up torward the front and towards "civilization" -

This is a small playhouse and sandbox -

I feel like I bought my own "frontier village" or something
