Post subject:  Well....

Since you guys know your big block stuff I figured I would ask you guys
I plan on running a turbo and I was just wondering how much boost/power would the stock rods and crank in a 454 hold up too?
I plan on running the stock oval port cast iron heads with bigger valves and I was just wondering what would be a good compression to run, it will be a street car so it needs to run on pump gas (dont mind paying for the more expensive stuff) but I dont wanna run too low of a compression so it dosent have any grunt in the time it takes for the turbo to spool up, so if you guys have any tips or info let me know Thanks

I'm not a turbo guy but I would think as far as the rods go if they have the good bolts, they should be able to take what you could give it for street use....

Thanks
Do you think the crank will be ok?

I would think the rods would give before the crank. If you have your clearances right, and enough oil you should be ok

I think its a cast crank
Any ideas on a good compression ratio to run?
Thanks guys

You might want to rethink that crank......

Ok thanks Kevin I will look into a forged one and see if my tight budget will allow for one

Well i looked on Summit and found a Eagle crank and some rods that will hold 700hp for about 625$ this way I wont have to worry about risking used rods, but does that seem like a good price or does someone know of a place that may be alittle bit cheaper? Thanks
