I may be off base on this Phil. But if I remember right you just flip them from side to side.

Thats what I meant , For a nova or camaro. To put a rack in a mustang it's easier just to cut it off at the firewall

I agree with Rick on the steering arm thing.
Remember phil the key is to have the tie rod running as parrellel to the a-arm as possible to minimize the bump steer. In a perfect world the pivot points of the lower a-arm and the rack would be at the same width.
Remember I'm not far from you so If you need a hand let me know I can swing over. 8)

Don't know how far along you are on this Phil - but a buddy of mine just finished up on his rack conversion. He used Pinto spindles on his setup and cut down some of the width of the main crossmember. Rack ended up right in line with the steering arms. Did have to use spacers to set the rack height in relation to the steering arms. We've checked it and it's excellant on bump steer throughout the suspension travel.

I'm doing mine this winter with David Lemmonds Moly A-Arms, Wilwood rack and his billet steering arms (a little longer than the stock one flipped around). I think ideally you want the rack as close in line with the steering arms as you can get both vertically and horizontially.
