| Post subject: | Thoughts and Prayers for my son michael Rowe |
My youngest son Michael (16) will be undergoing surgery on 10/22/04 for (VNS Therapy) Vagus nerve Stimulator Implant. Michael has had Epilepsy for several years now and we can't seem to be able to control it with medication, we have gone to the Cleveland Children's Hospital in hopes that they could perform surgery to repair the focus point of his brain that generates the seizures but found that he would loose his eye sight if the surgery was performed do to the fact that Michael's brain did not form right during his development stage and he has a void i the brain that traps the electrical current which in turns allows seizure activity in the focal part of the brain. So I ask my friends to please keep him in your thoughts and prayers during this time. Thank you and God bless you all Phil |

Thank you all, I guess our main issue right now is keeping him well, he came down with a cold this weekend and we can't give him anything with asprin in it because of the surgery. So we have to keep his temp down or they won't be able to do the surgery Friday. Phil |

Phil Phil....if this helps at all.....get him to suck on ice if possible, if not, give him ice water through a straw....internally, that will keep his temp down. Remember, the temperature means that the body is fighting off the virus that has infected him.....do the ice thing moderately and only if his temp gets too high..... Trish |

THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH FOR ALL THE KIND WORDS, THIS FAMILY MEANS SO MUCH TO ALL OF US. tOMARROW (FRIDAY) IS THE BIG DAY, THEY TOLD US THAT THEY WILL NOT BE TURNING THE VAGUS NERVE STIMULATOR ON FOR 2 WEEKS AFTER THE SURGERY. THIS WILL ALLOW HEALING TIME AND ONCE THEY TURN IT ON THEY WILL KNOW IF THERE IS ANY PAIN THAT IT WOULD BE COMING FROM THE STIMULATOR AND NOT THE SURGERY. AGAIN THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR CONTINUED PRAYERS. P.S. GAYLE, DON'T LET KEVIN GET TO MUCH IN AN UPROAR OVER THIS CLASS CONSOLIDATION!! THING ALWAYS WORK OUT IN THE END.
