For some reason when I tried to link this directly it couldn't find it; I'll add the V8Buick link and then you can see it from there. Anyway, thought you might be interested in this and generate some (technical) discussion... K http://v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=135333 |

Try this http://www.summeronwheels.com/trailer/2 ... e07bil.wmv I down loaded it and opened in Windows Movie Maker so I could view it a frame at a time. Looks like he may have started a slight drift to the left and over corrected to the right. Nothing dramatic in the first move left. It cold have been something on the track. |

I don't understand how it got the right side so high up in the air! Either the throttle stuck or he had his foot in it till the bitter end |

Ok - after 5 days I'm finally back and can comment... There were a couple reasons I posted this: (a) I thought it was interesting how high the car got once it got sideways and (b) I am not one to second guess anybody, especially when they are in "crisis mode", but it just seemed to me he would have been better off to nose it into the guard rail after the first hit. That would have scrubbed off some speed and saved the "pinball" effect of crossing the track, hitting the rail on that side and then back across to hit the original rail head on. I am wondering if we need some "driver's training" for some of the faster cars. Remember a few years ago when we had a rash of crashes? On several occaisions we had to have a little chat with some of the driver's of Super Street, Hot Street, Limited Street, etc. What precipitated the whole discussion is a picture I saw on the Racewerks trailer, where the guy was crossed up and was obviously steering the wrong way (ie, not steering "into the skid"). That one seemed pretty basic to me. Further comments? K |
