Weather Cooperates for MPG Classic Car and Motorcycle Show

GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz (second from right) spends time chatting with Milford Proving Ground employees about classic vehicles.

Bottom Feeders Band include John Latner, Advanced Chassis Controls; Denny Mayerchak, Brake Component Lab; Brian Nickoloff, GM Powertrain senior designer; Gary Allender, Brake Development senior technician; Brent Lowe, Brake Development senior design engineer; sound technician Mark Furman, Materials; and Rick Light, GM supplier.
Despite the hazy sky and intermittent drizzle that threatened to send many classic car owners in search of covers for their precious vehicles, the recent Milford Proving Ground’s 9th Annual Employee Classic Car and Motorcycle Show was a great success. More than 100 employees from MPG, the Tech Center and even some GM retirees paraded their classics to the Proving Grounds and displayed them inside parking lot A, near the Building 105 Dining Center.

Bob Lutz, vice chairman for GM’s Global Product Development and noted classic car owner and enthusiast, dropped by for the fourth year in a row. Accompanied by Proving Grounds Executive Director Ken Morris, Lutz browsed the rows of cars and motorcycles, chatted with employees and enjoyed a burger before being whisked off to his next meeting.

A group of GM employees provided live entertainment during the Milford Proving Ground’s Classic Car and Motorcycle show recently. The Bottom Feeders—six veteran employees and one supplier employee—belted out a number of popular rock tunes that helped set the mood for employees and visitors as they enjoyed the show.

All participants received a complimentary lunch and photo with their vehicle. There were also some giveaway prizes. Design Center employee  Mike Oginsky 8) walked away with the Participant’s Choice Award, which was a handy car care kit complete with everything he needs to keep his 1967 Chevy Camaro a sparkling classic vehicle.
