Post subject:  Carol Anderson Up-Date

I just spoke with Brian at 2:00 pm and Carol had just gone into recovery after a 6 hour surgery, the doctors were able to remove a large amount of the cancer and the balance will be treated with chemotheraphy.

It will be 10 to 14 days before they have all the results back from the labs.

Brain sounded good yet very tired, and wanted me to tell everyone thank you for all your support and continued prayers.

As updates come in I will bring them to you

Post subject:  Carol....

Hey everyone... remember me???? Sorry I have not been on here in so long, my life just does not allow "social" internet time....but, I think of you all often!

Brian just wanted me to send you a message regarding Carol. I am so glad Phil posted that previous message. I spent the entire day with Brian at the hospital. It was a tough day. Brian is holding up strong (cuz I won't let him fall!!!). They did find a lot more than they thought, but, it was also anticipated by the Dr., so it wasn't a surprise to him. He is optimistic at this point and now we just pray that she is sensitive to the Chemo. Her determination is as strong as ever and she was our normal "Carol" by the time I left this evening (even flipping Brian off, hee hee....). Now we just need to pray and stay positive, positive, POSITIVE!!!! She needs all of our support and strength, I am confident she will be up and running with the "Dogg" in no time at all.

Brian talked very highly of his "race family" today...quite often... you all mean a lot to him and he values all of your friendships more than he will ever let on... so, I am being the tattle tale and telling you!!!! LOL!

There is a strong, unbreakable circle here, so, one way or another, you will all be posted on Carol's recovery. She will be in the hospital for at least 5 days, and hopefully on Chemo within 10-14 days. We are going to beat this!!!!!

Thanks for all your love and support.

XOXO,
Missy (Mel)

I was just reading through all of the posts...how wonderful this family is here. Seeing how Brian gave more detail in one of the posts, I thought I would be a little more descriptive. They removed her uterus, ovaries, spleen, apendix, apron (abdomen), cleaned up around her rib and diaphragm. They also put a chest tube in to continuously drain that left lung as it keeps filling up with fluid. They removed anything they could find that was a cm or larger. All that is left is many many pin hole size pieces that the chemo should take care of. I think it is great what you are all doing, and knowing what I know...Brian and Carol really really appreciate it all.

Take care everyone.

Hugs,
Mel

Well I heard from Brian this evening and he said that Carol had a rough day today but they were able to get Carol up and walk from the bed to the door and back and they were pleased with that.

They hope to remove the drain tubes tomorrow to make her more comfortable and then hope to get her to go for a walk down the hall, its possible that Carol might "might" get to come home Sunday.

The following is a partial quote form Brian that I know he wouldn't mind if I posted it.

Quote:
Phil, Thank you so much for the meal certificate, Ben and I went there today, they have the best food in the area, we are so very greatful to all of you for helping out, it means so much. I think the best thing to do would be to mail it to us and we'll use the money for travel expenses, helping feed her family while at the hospital, all the extra exspense we are starting to see unexpectedly. I can't say enough how much we appreciate everything. Please let everyone know that their generosity is so welcome.

Folks, I can't say it enough Thank you for what you have done it means so much but there is still a long way to go. If you have a care package that you would like to send teh family contact me and we will work it out, and if you still want to make a paypal donation send it to gearjammer@wowway.com

Thank you again

Phil

Hello everyone hear is the latest update from Brian as of 1:15 pm

Carol had a rough morning, her drain tube in her nose, thoat is really bothering her, so they up'd the pain meds a bit and it took care of it.
We saw her doctor today also, he is going to remove the cathitor but the other tube will need to stay at least until tomorrow. Saturday they will put the chest port into her for the chemo treatments.
He said they removed the apron which is on your large intestine. If you put all of your fingers straight out and all eight next to each other, that would be the normal size, so about 1/2" thick, 3" wide and 8 inches long. The tumor they removed was 3" thick, 4" wide and 18" long. He mentioned again that there is nothing larger than 1 cm left in her at this point, but thousands of pimple size that the chemo needs to attack.
She walked twice as far a yesterday this morning, they took some more x-rays of her lungs about an hour ago and finally they are letting her sleep right now.

I am so glad you are keeping this update on here. I saw Brian for a minute last night and was going to call and check in with him in a bit, but this answered all the questions I had. I was planning to go visit her tonight, but I think I will wait until tomorrow, maybe she will be feeling a tad better. I also think it is great what you are doing for them....I was going to send flowers, but, realized that the money could be spent more wisely. Great idea!!!

Morning all, here is the lastest update on Carol's condition as of this morning, please continue all your prayers and support.

Quote:
You can give out my address, no problem ther. Chemo in about a week, not sure when she goes home, I just saw the doctor this morning and he said as soon as she can eat and pass gas for a couple days then she can go home. Last night was rough, I didn't get home until almost midnight, I was exhausted. Her good lung filled up with fluid and she had a hard time breathing about 5pm yesterday, they did a catscan at about 7pm, then a lung tap immediately following, so both lungs are now draining.
I arrived this morning at 7am and as I walked in she said "There's my baby". Big smile on her face and a chatter box, completely opposite from most of yesterday, yesterday she was Very Miserable, today she's awesome, in a great mood. They removed the NG tube from her throat at 4am, they put her on a liquid diet also. Doc said the urine catetar will come out at the end of the day if all goes well today. They just let her have an orange popsical, she was sooooo happy, she said it was the best tasting thing she's ever had in her life, even better than Outback restaurant...her favorite place to eat. She has the nurses laughing also with her great sense of humor. The prayers are working great, I'm so releived.

more updates as they come
