Apparently Car Craft didn't think too highly of "Two Lane Blacktop" when it first came out:

In my opinion, anyone who uses this "n" word in print is just askin' for trouble!

That's the Michigan Madman....EJ Potter is his name, he had two bikes with Chevy 327's on them. He used to run it at MidMichigan also. He used to also pull tractors with twin Allison Aircraft engines. He had an old Impala with a V12 Allison engine in it also.

Actually, it wasn't...

That's what caught my eye, but it was some dudes from Lake Orion that I never heard of...

Good summary on EJ Potter, though...

Ya, das ist ein "Michigan Madman"...

...That IS too weird, for that bike to be for sale just now.

Ok (since you didn't ask), here is my favorite EJ Potter story:

We were at Tri City one weekend, and EJ was there to make three exhibition passes. He made the first one without incident, but on the second pass he got squirrely and dumped the bike at about 160 mph. Slid through the traps on his side.

Afterwards, we were up in the tower (...probably getting paid... :D ) and here comes EJ, with his arms and hands all covered in vaseline and wrapped in towels. He told the guy running the show "well...I'll be back next week to make that third pass".

The guy says "EJ, what are you talkin' about?".

EJ said "Well, you paid me for three passes and I only made two. I owe you one more pass".

We were there the next weekend, and so was EJ. He made that third pass without incident.
