Post subject:  Flogged the motor on the dyno today
My little N/A SBC spent the day on the dyno 1.83 hp/ci isnt too shabby. It ended up making just shy of 744hp and 587 lbft. We played with all kinds of stuff: ignition timing, jetting, valve lash, cam timing. Funny part is ya want to know what picked up the most power and tq? 14lbft and over 12hp from a simple piece of duct tape :shock: We kept tightening the screw on my vacuum relief for the vacuum pump and finally just decided to tape the inlet shut. We got done with the pull and the guy running the dyno was like :shock: :shock: :shock: WTF? Looking at the sheets it added about 8" of vacuum which is where the power came from.

I think we found an honest 20hp tweaking things I am guessing it may pickup a tenth or so. i cant make it too much faster I am lifting at 1000' to run 10.0s in R/S as it is :shock: :lol:

That'll be nice to shift the car at 6,500 and still run 10.00, the engine will last forever.

I tried that Dogg it doesn't slow down a ton. I even was shifting it first to third one weekend last season when I broke the trans. It still went 9.89 :shock: with no 2nd gear

Dogg you must have missed the weekend ESPN was at the motorplex (the weekend the avitar pic was taken) I was doing burnouts to the 300' mark :D trying to get a little TV time.......too bad it didn't work... oh well it was fun :P I was laughing so hard in the car from all the smoke inside I could barley concentrate on the tree lol

I don't think the 9" slicks are the answer!! Didn't work for me. :roll: :wink:
