i bought the 496 motor, have my 400 motor and not quit sure what to do.
i got the new hot rod (i think it was hot rod) and they build a junkyard sbc and got 445 hp outta the thing with a very small weiand blower at 6 lbs of boost.
ok the 496 is a tq monster motor over squared. so my thoughts are take the motor and build it using mostly stock stuff, get the peanut port heads proted to flow better and stick one of those weiand blower on it and run about 12lb of boost.
the car i think would fit into the street machine class, would be run on pump gas.
the only thing i would get would be forged pistons and a rv type of cam other then that leave it the way chevrolet made it. cast crank, rods etc.
the small port bbc heads flow about the same as the sb vortec head so plenty of air and good velocity so great low end kick ass tq behind a auto tranny.

or do as planned build the 400 sbc, fast burn heads all the goodies and run stock appearing pump gas class.

ya know ever since frost came here i got bitten by the damned pump gas bug. so either way its gotta be pump gas and driveable on the street.
we dont have emmision testing up here heck they dont even look to see if your car has wheels just proof of insurance and you get plates.

so please jump in and post your thoughts on all this.

i still want to race shannon no matter how the car is built lol.
