Post subject:  Back from Iraq

I was at the American Legion in our home town yesterday and a friend Dan walked in, full uniform, just got back from Iraq. He was over there for 16 months straight. He bee lined it from the airport straight to the Legion to see all his friends. His parents didn't even know he was back, LOL. The stories he told everyone for the next 2 hours were...to put it in a nutsheel, unbelieveable. The culture over there is very strange from ours. He had stories that made you want to stand up and appaulade to stories that brought tears to my eyes. War is ugly and I'm damn proud our our guys over there. Our troops have internet email address and Dan said if it wasn't for that, he would have went nuts, two people in his group actually did. He was one of the lucky ones, his group lost 15 troops during the 16 months. He lost 80% of his hearing in his right ear when his Humvy has hit by a missle launcher, a few stitches in his head, but he lived through it, but his 3 best friends did not. Anyway, it been on my mind all day.
