Yesterday the Michigan Senate passed a bill that will increase Michigan
property taxes by one third for three consecutive years. That's the same
as paying an additional year's property tax over a 3 year period. The bill
has now been sent to the Michigan House of Representatives for passage, if
the house passes the bill the governor is expected to sign it into law.
The governor is calling this just a pull ahead that will allow residents to
help the state. This is nothing but a huge tax increase.

If passed, this tax increase will impact not only homeowners but renters
and all businesses in the state of Michigan.

TAX BILLS MAY COME EARLY
Under the new state budget proposal, property owners will pay four years in
county taxes over the next three, and counties will lose their state
revenue-sharing money, including $21 million annually in Oakland County,
said L. Brooks Patterson, county executive.
"It's under the radar, and it's a stealth tactic," Patterson said Friday.
"Every year, we're going to pay - not 12 months but 16 - and at the end of
the third year, we will have paid a full year of extra property taxes.
"It's a $1 billion tax increase and it is under the radar, and I don't see
the Legislature beating the drum on this."
I guess the $5500 a year I pay now ain't enough????
