Why is it so "slick" for a street tire at the track? I remember back when I had a 350 and 2.73/open (one 205/70 rear tire) I burned out for at least half track. 60-70mph and the cab was filling up with smoke  And I didnt have any real power! It was just slick as hell, not slick like ice, but I couldnt hook up till 3rd gear. That was at 35psi with an empty gas tank, but still it was like a different car when I left and got back on the street.

i used to ride street tires on my stang and my motorcycle. both did the exact same as you described. Honestly, I think it just has to do with compound stickiness and tire width.

Wow that is impressive considering the hard compound those tires are made of! Do they make em in a 265/50 size? :?

I'm not sure.Most of us either use the 33"x 18"x 15" or the 33"x 21 1/2" x 15"sizes.You wouldn't want them anyway,it's not easy running those tyres with a lot of HP.Go with the new MT drag radial for that size of tyre.I'm sure they do a 275 x 50 x 15".
