I just bought a 36' 5th wheel trailer. Need to install the 5th wheel in my truck. The truck is a 2008 2500 Silverado crew cab with a six foot bed. I read that I may need a "Sidewinder" pin box assembly to move the trailer back. What I've read says it's needed for trucks with beds shorter then 6' but when I do the math it appears I may need it. Anyone have any experience with 5th wheels in 6' bed pickups?

My Dad had a 5th wheel in his 01 2500 short bed with no problems.

Mine is a gooseneck. My trailer was built knowing it was going on a 6" bed. I think when you turn is the spot you need to be concerned with. Sorry Dick, that is all I can add....

Our travel trailer is a 26' fifth wheel, pulled with a 2wd reg cab shortbox (stepside, in fact).

No issues -

Jeeezzzzzz Richard

Just bolt the hitch in ahead of the C/L of the axle and go "trailer truckin'"

If you must turn, take a lot of room.

OR just buy a REAL truck!!! One with a dog on the hood!
