Anyone ever heard of this?
Basically change the way you drive and increase your MPG.
I saw a show on TV the other day. I decided the 11.8MPG in my truck driving my 7 miles to work every day sucks ass. I won't give up my truck. And it wouldnt make sense to get a new one. even with the multi displacement system engines out now. and the new GM hybrid. Just not cost effective.
So I've been reading up a bit. changing my habits a bit.
My trucks MPG has gone from 11.8 to 12.5 in just a few days. without a reset. going to reset tomorrow.
I wont do some of the crazy things that they do like turn off the engine and coast, or turn off engine at a red light, because I'm thinking the wear and tear from that would out weigh the gas savings.
But accelerating at a pace that would annoy even the bluest of hair folk, dropping 5 MPH off my normal speed, decelerating with the gas more instead of waiting longer and breaking, are changes that are ez for me to do. They also recommend making sure your air filter is new/clean and inflating your tire pressure to the max recommended.
I was even toying with the idea of getting a new meter with instant MPG to teach me to drive better.
Will report next week what my new MPG is. Would be nice to see 17MPG in the city in my truck. And I think that I might be able to hit it.
it could even pay for itself over time.
I'm not broke or anything, but it's kind of like a video game to me. How high can i get the MPG to go!
