Jimmy, its not from the toxins. I have 2 high volume pumps running all winter long and there is never a 100% ice over on the pond. I used UV lights on both pumps, bio-bacteria and a bubbler to keep over 50% of the top from icing over. The pond is 34' long by 15' wide and 2-3.5 feet deep. I do test the water over the winter to make sure it is still stable. Last winter was very harsh on them with a pretty cold temps. The big ones seem to get the worst of it all the time while the smaller ones seem to not be so affected. Who knew I would have a heart to keep such creatures??? LOL |
