Post subject:  can anyone fix car audio amps...???

gotta fosgate that took a shit on me today......kid pullled out in front of me on a bike and i slammed on the brakes and my box slide into my amp........blew the main power fuse.....gotta new one, put it in, and blew again.....unhooked th amp and put a new on in and its fine.....think something is grounding out inside it..........anyone out there know car audio amps..?

Kirk sometimes these amps are not worth fixing. I have PPI am that I repaired and the parts were very hard to locate. The advice I have to you is to remove the fuse, place a meter across the fuse holder and remove componets till the circuit opens. When you find this short, turn the circuit board over and follow the traces and where they lead to. Replace the component and further troubleshoot to make sure that is the source of the short. Sometimes they are simple short with not damaged parts. Sometimes a loose screw that is the problem. Most of the times these shorts take out a few IC chips though and they are very hard to find sometimes...

LOL send it out for repairs... I believe K-40 out in Sterling Heights can help you out with it. Not really sure if they do that kind of stuff.. Give them a call.. they are in the yellowpages...

fixed it.....took the amp apart, took the board outta the chassis, put it back together, and she works fine...!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :!: :!: :roll:
