$87 a week is very much on a budget.....My figure comes from my wifes book keeping.....We do eat steak a few times a week...however we buy at Cosco in bulk.....you save about 50% there.....I don't cut cost on the kids.....everything is here always.....don't want them eatin at Mikey D's thats not cheap/or good....I do all the cookin as my wife doesn't cook....I am a Grille Fagot 12 months a year (I like the taste) we buy all fresh produce...I guess you could buy canned and save $$ (I don't like the taste) We buy Tropicana Pure Premium OJ (its pricey) but I don't like concentrated OJ (TASTE) There's always plenty of fruit on hand for the kids (that isn't cheap)....Everyone has their vice....mine is food we never scrimp on food....side note 4 years ago when we were buying this house we looked at our budget.....We saw that if we cut down on dining out we could afford the house without a problem ($18,000 a year dining out.....to under $5000) when you don't pay attention things can get out of hand...sorry to ramble....I have friends that spend $80 a week....and ones that spend $300 so I'm no help at all....as usual

Between coupons, sales and the club stores I don't know why you would have to spend over a $100 a week unless you are buying alcohol or tobacco, I guess that would raise the price.

Even when buying for race weekends I can still manage to stay within my bi-weekly budget (seeing there is two of us I can go that long)

Hence, the reason Dave and I are kidless, now the cats and birds on the other hand, they can be a little finicky sometimes....................

wouldnt it make sense to just create a list of what someone eats in a week, then add up what it would cost to buy that stuff?

Cereal $5
Milk X2 $6
Chicken $15
Sauces for chicky $5
Pasta $3
Sauce for pasta $3
Potatoes $4

etc etc etc
