I don’t even know where to begin! When I hit the starter button for the second round of qualifying on Saturday afternoon I heard the nasty sound of crunching metal. My heart just sank knowing that the flywheel had just said Uncle and would not take anymore (also knowing the engine had to come out to replace the flywheel).

There were so many people that helped in collecting parts and tools that I want to thank!

Let’s see, Jack Iron’s crew member for towing me back to the trailer (sorry didn’t get your name during the confusion), Keith Seymore for hunting down a engine hoist and many other tools needed (Bob Curran for the engine hoist), Jim Gorski for the extra set of jack stands and support, Carl from Competition Transmissions for having a flywheel on site, Bill Scheel for lending a helping hand, Kevin Parent for the use of your air compressor and die grinder, Gary Wiesnewski, Jim Salzberry (aka Steaks) for helping out and keeping everyone fed during the weekend, and the many other people that stopped by and offered help (there were so many that I couldn't possible get everyones name).

I heard the called for the 3rd round of qualifying just as we were finishing up. When I hit the starter, we found that the starter had said Uncle also. Keith went up to the tower had them announce that I needed a starter. Within 5 minutes I had 4 starters setting on the ground next to my car (thanks Larry Perkins, Kevin Parent, Mike Davis, and one other that I didn’t get his name).

Last but not least, Mike Radlinski, what can I say? You are definitely getting the crew chief of the year award from me! I couldn’t do any of this without you!!

Thanks all for helping out and giving me a chance to race on Sunday!

Scott Williams
