JIMMY HOPE YOU DONT MIND ME POSTING THIS BUT I THOUGHT THE BOARD MIGHT WANT TO READ FIRST HAND INFO FROM THE WALTERS.
BE
Mark arrived at the church today, just as service was letting out.
He is working on setting up "Com" (communications). He has 6-8 walkie talkies w/re-chargeable batteries for communication between the staff & volunteers, and a wi-fi network to expand internet connectivity for all. He says sprint has a signal, there, but not a very strong one. Also he will post a new video on the website (
www.katrina.jamaministry.com) as soon as he can.
Some men from a nearby church are working on constructing and plumbing some shower stalls, outside, today. Up until now they've had only one makeshift one and I don't believe that it has/had hot water.
For those of you who are preparing packages, I am still waiting on the specific dynamics of the people. The best information I have at this point is about 5 babies (with at least 1 newborn), about a dozen children, another dozen teens and the rest are adults. Don't know the male/female
breakdown...I'm still asking, but don't want to be a pest about it as they are doing their best to do what they have to do.
Some of the church members are taking laundry home, washing and returning it each day. I find it hard enough to stay ahead of a family of 4 with all the conveniences that we take for granted. Imagine adding a family of 90.
That's all I have, right now, will give you more as I get it...
BE WILD FOR CHRIST!
