I cleaned up our local family grave site, my grandparents, great grandparents & great great grandparents. I headed down with my wife to plant flowers a week ago, well I took the wrong road through the cemetary and accidently found another family stone which no one knew about. After a couple days of research we found out it was my Great Great uncle and aunt which no one knew where they were burried. I was pretty exsited about it all and my mom showed me a family tree in which my grandmother had been working on for 40 years. So my question to her was where are all of these older people. Mom didn't know, no one knows. Well with the EASY help from the internet, we found three more generations of our family in which were buried only 4 miles from my grandfathers farm. So off we went yesturday on the 15 minute drive to another cemetary, and whaa laaaa, there they all were. The oldest was
a grandmother X6 greats, she died in 1853, 3 of her 6 kids were buried there along with all of their kids, so you can imagine how many there were.
I found out today that two more of her kids (females) are burried in another cemetary about 20 minute from us, which we are going to tonight.
It's frickin amazing there are 6 generations of my family all within 20 minutes of us and NO ONE knew it. You know I honestly didn't care to much until I stumbled onto someone that was missing and after seeing all the smiles on everyone faces,,,,,, I guess the two days I spent cemetary hopping and internet research was well worth the time I didn't spend on my stupid race car.

That's really cool , I remember going to cemetarys with my grandparents and finding the stones. You can do rubbings of them too, picks up alot of detail you can't see by eye sometimes.
We have our family tree back to 1644 on my grandmas side. There's some awesome history there :)

This family tree stuff is really neat. My mom has 6500 names in her family tree maker program on her side. She is back 2 generations before they came over on the Mayflower. Then on my Dads side she can't get back before my great grand father. Its just weird how there is so much info on one side and hardly any on the other.

Hi Jim, Ya it is cool what we can find out about our history. Like I said , we're back to 1644 on 1 side but can't get past my great great grandmother on the other :(
We still keep working though . Never know when the right lead may come along
