Well it was an interesting weekend.
The silver was shot on the car thursday night, The paint was not dry by 5:00pm friday (emron paint).
we have to be in lansing by 10:40 for NHRA chassis cert, so the plan MEET AT 6:00am and get the car ready to go. Well we did and were on the road by 8:30. Got to the chassis cert by 10:20 and by 10:35 we had failed the chassis inspection.
FAILED yup.
There were two issues, #1 The inspector said we were missing two bars in the floor, but in all actuallity we have them just too far back in the car. #2 the 25.5 cert book allows you to build the chassis in the following 3 ways:
1. drivers head entirley behind the main hoop
2. drivers centerline on or forward of the main hoop
3. drivers head entirley in front of the main hoop
well we are condition #3 but built the funny car cage using the rules for #2 "forward of the main hoop", basically the inspector felt that the main forward funny car cage bar can crush with out support.
so this is what we have:

this is what were missing:

so the fixes:
last night we cut the floor open and added the new bars that we have but were not in the right location, and we laid out the missing funny car cage bar, looks like it will be no big deal, nothing a little notching of the passenger seat wont handle.
for all the new paint pics, the morning rush pics, and the fix pics from last night see this link:

but never fear we are on a list for the 10th IHRA cert at milan and the 24th NHRA cert with the same inspector at MMM... we will pass this time
