Well, I finally managed to get this Popular Hot Rodding photo shoot in the bag after fooling with it all spring/summer. We had multiple rainouts and a couple false starts, trying to do it while Robert was here from Chicago or even attempting to meet halfway.

We got ‘er done here last night, shooting at the Oakland Mall and a couple other Troy locations. I thought you might enjoy a few “behind the scenes” shots and we can compare them to the magazine when it comes out.

Here goes:

The last time I had that much activity under the hood of my car I was catching Scott’s hair on fire….

This rig is used to get those cool “motion” shots you’ve been seeing as of late. It fixtures the camera, the car is rolled forward (very slowly, no faster than a person could walk backwards) and a time exposure is taken. Very cool effect. It is attached to the bottom of the car with magnets.:bbnova:

This is the setup for the obligatory burnout shot. Joseph was so freaked out that he forgot to take a picture!

Here’s the aftermath:

These stripes are from driving the car about 3 mph over to the next location. They were sticky, too.

Thanks, guys.

I didn't think of it until just now but I bet Colleen would have enjoyed being there and seeing this process. The young man in some of the pictures ("Brian") was some kind of PHR "photo contest" winner, and was following Robert around to learn from him.
